Terralta Inc., is locally owned by Laura Shivak and Marcus Campbell. The business’ focus was geo-thermal product when it opened in 2006, and since then has shifted and expanded into an electrical, plumbing and solar company. When Shivak and Campbell were faced with the opportunity to potentially purchase a locally owned business in the area, they reached out for support from Community Futures Entre-Corp. Air-Tech Ltd., became a division of Terralta on Sept. 1, 2020 as an outcome.
“It was a very comfortable experience and we had an opportunity to be open and honest about our business plan, concerns and excitement in regards to taking over a new business,” says Campbell, who became co-owner of Terralta in 2016. “We couldn’t have done what we did without the help of Community Futures,” he says.
Shivak is an original co-owner of Terralta and she connected with Community Futures Entre-Corp for past support, so the decision to reach out for additional support was an easy one for the two business partners.
“They’ve always been in our corner, and they’ve always believed in everything we’ve done right from our first encounter,” she says. “Community Futures sees the entrepreneurs and the people looking to better themselves and their business.”
Both Shivak and Campbell are grateful in how this opportunity continues to grow their business so they can provide residents and commercial businesses with all of their offered services. Air-Tech has been in Medicine Hat for approximately 30 years, with Terralta being in the city for 15 years. To have the two businesses join together and grow with the support from Community Futures Entre-Corp is an accomplishment Shivak and Campbell are proud of.
